Itinerary only for the packages

Day 1. Friday 21th September.

You will be met at Punta Arenas Presidente Ibanez airport (PUQ) by your NIGSA representative, from where you will be transferred to your centrally located accommodation in Punta Arenas, Chile. Your stay will include a welcome drink and evening meal in the hotel restaurant where you can relax and enjoy the company of your fellow competitors and representatives from the race organization. For those who simply need to run, nearby is the costanera path which stretches for over 4 miles and is popular with local runners. Imagine! Running along the Strait of Magellan! You will also be able to complete your registration nearby and be given your race goody bag, race number, timing chip and up-to-date race itinerary.

Day 2. Saturday 22th September.

Breakfast will be followed by your transfer in comfortable, air-conditioned coaches to the race head quarters. Along the way, you will cross the open plains of the Chilean pampa before reaching the pretty town of Puerto Natales, with its typically brightly painted houses, restaurants and cafés. Puerto Natales sits on the shores of the Seno de Ultima Esperanza and is famed for its stunning reflections of distant glaciated mountains. We will stop here for lunch. Soon after Puerto Natales, we leave the tarmac roads as at last, the magnificent Torres come into site, with each corner bringing you closer to our goal – the magnificent granite spires of the Torres del Paine National Park! In the evening there will be a pasta night and event expo’ at the Hotel las Torres, where the event will be presented. You will also be able to review the course in detail and see films of our signature event – the Patagonian Expedition Race.

Day 3. Race day. Sunday 23rd September.

An early breakfast will be available, after which we will transfer you to the start, following the race route in reverse. As your anticipation of the amazing race grows, you can enjoy views of the entire Torres Massif and the stunning lakes with their jewel like colors. You can be certain to see elegant gaunaco, condors riding on thermals and you may even see the rare and elusive huemul or a puma.

The Race.

The course profile and route can be found here (link).

Post Race.

After you finish, a buffet will be available for all runners. Later, when you have rested, we invite you to join us for the prize-giving ceremony at a special Patagonian evening, centered around a traditional parillada, where you can relax and enjoy traditional Magellanes music and dance, while sharing your race stories with your new-found amigos!

Day 4. Monday 24th September.

For those returning to Punta Arenas, you can enjoy a leisurely healthy breakfast before the return trip to Punta Arenas. En-route, we will detour to visit the stunning cave of the Milodon, once home to Patagonia’s amazing pre-historic bear, where we’ll also enjoy a lunch and refreshment stop. Eventually though, we must return to Punta Arenas, and for most people, a final night’s rest at your chosen accommodation, leaving behind nothing but footprints, taking away nothing but beautiful memories and new friendships.
